Our history
In 1957, Fábricas Agrupadas de Muñecas de Onil, S.A. (FAMOSA) was born from the alliance of a number of toymakers in Toy Valley (Alicante, Spain). The group formed in order to remain competitive in the market due to difficulty finding funding, changing technologies, and the emergence of plastic toys.
More than 50 years later we continue to be Spain’s premiere toy manufacturer, leading the industry in Spain and Portugal and firmly established in more than 50 countries, including France, Italy, Mexico and the United States.
One dream? No, thousands of dreams take Famosa wherever our imagination leads us.
1957
The founding of Famosa
Elvis Presley, Marylin Monroe, the premiere of Walt Disney´s Cinderella, Juan Ramón Jimenez winns a Nobel Prize in literature, the fisrt plastic dolls are produced...and Famosa is founded.
A group of artisan dollmakers get together in Alicante, Spain to create FAMOSA. It is also the fisrt Spanish toy manufacturer.
1958
Güendolina
Güendolina is the first Famosa doll to be well received in the market. Critics call it "a unique creation in the neoclassical style".
1967
Quirón Stuffed Animals
The Quirón line of stuffed animals, a brand that persists to this day, is designed and produced for the fisrt time.
1968
Nancy is born
Nancy is a modern and admired doll who represents every girl´s dream of becoming a woman.
1969
The Barriguitas are born
Little baby dolls whose inexhaustible outfits and accesories have grown over the years.
1972
The Famosa Christmas Carol
The Famosa jingle is broadcast for the first time, and to this day everybody remembers the lyrics and the ad, in which Famosa dolls aproach the manger, bringing love and friendship to baby Jesus.
1973
Famosa distributes Famobil
The endearing Clicks come to Spain and Portugal.
1977
Nenuco is born
The Christmas the largest family of baby dolls begins to grow, whit the addition of the Nenuco family.
1983
Pinypon is born
Famosa launches Pinypon as an expansion to its line of products. Over the years Pinypon has become a classic toy.
1992
Famosa distributes Micromachines
Famosa begins to distribute the Micromachines, collection of small vehicles and toys in Spain.
2003
Disney Heroes
Famosa brings to life the world to fantasy and adventure where the Disney Heroes live. They share heroic values and stimulate children´s imaginations through fascinating stories.
2003
The Jaggets are born
They´re one od a kind! Sweet as babies and fashionably stylish!
2005
Famosa acquires FEBER and Play by Play
In keeping with its plan to expand internationally and consolidates its distribution, Famosa acquires Feber and Play by Play.
2006
Relaunching Nancy
Nancy gets a modern makeover. Today she is sweet, a good friend, supportive and loves fashion! She has the values of our parents generation, but in today´s latest fashion trends.
2007
Relaunching The Barriguitas
They ´re back, big time, and ready to play! The new Barriguitas are full to fun and love to play.
2009
Relaunching Pinypon
Pinypon´s endless possibilities continue, with a modern twist.
2010
Sun Capital European Partners LLP
As part of an ambitious, viable and realistic project, Famosa starts a new phase of nacional consolidation and international expansion.

The opening of a Famosa factory in Monterrey, Mexico.

The first edition of Juegorama, were Famosa presents its study, "Play and Toys in Today´s Society".
